Hip

Hip Osteoarthritis (OA) is a degenerative joint disease that affects the hip joint, causing pain, stiffness, and reduced mobility. It occurs when the cartilage that cushions the ends of the bones in the hip joint gradually wears away over time, leading to bone-on-bone contact and inflammation of the joint.

Femoroacetabular impingement (FAI) is a condition characterised by abnormal contact between the femoral head (the ball-shaped end of the thigh bone) and the acetabulum (the socket of the hip joint) during hip movement. This abnormal contact can lead to friction, wear and tear, and damage to the soft tissues surrounding the hip joint, including the labrum (a ring of cartilage that lines the acetabulum) and the articular cartilage covering the bones.
